Benjamin's Story Part 3 (published 4/15/2023)

This is the third part of Benjamin's Story.
When we first got him, he was very scared of humans; I think he probably had a bad experience with humans before we adopted him. He took immediately to Flopsy, but for the three years we had both of them, he only let me pet him when he was right next to Flopsy. Sadly, Flopsy passed when she was 4; she had some ongoing health issues.
I was really worried about Benjamin after Flopsy passed, but he kept going on without her and he started to trust me more. We developed a really special bond, and I feel like we could really understand each other. Benjamin and I also have a similar personality - we're both very introverted and enjoy taking care of our partners who don't have the best health.
Unfortunately, right after his eighth birthday (and right before I finished Part 3 of this comic), Benjamin passed away suddenly. He had had an ongoing issue with weepy eye (might have gotten it from Flopsy) that unfortunately never got resolved. On the morning he passed, he seemed to be having trouble breathing, so I took him to the emergency vet, but he passed shortly after. Rabbits are prey animals so they often hide their ailments and can die suddenly. It was so hard losing Benjamin, but I'm very thankful for the 7+ years we had together. I think he had a happy life with us and I feel lucky to have become his friend. Hope you are happily reunited with Flopsy at Rainbow Bridge, Benjamin!
